Here’s one of my favourite completed goals of 2016

For the last few years (since we had Ben, actually, and he is now four) on New Year’s Eve Sally and I have sat down and shared all the things we have achieved that year, the highlights and sometimes the challenges. Here’s a blog from December 2013 on how we do it

Here’s Simon Holding His Will

This year was no different.

One of the things I’d got on my list of achievements was to FINALLY get my will written, together with putting in place a lasting power of attorney (LPA).   It was one of those things I had been meaning to do for years but just had never got around to. There was always something more important or interesting to do.

I also had a fear of getting it wrong, that I would write something that the family would regret once I’m gone.

As you’d expect all those fears were baseless once I sat down with the solicitor.   He just told me to write the will as if I expected to die that night! Up until then – as most people do, apparently – I was trying to work out what I wanted to happen when I died in the future. Of course no one knows when that is, so you can never work that out!

After a couple of brief meetings and a conversation with my dad about being an appointed attorney, it was all sorted. I felt a whole lot better for it and I know, having spoken to Sally, she does, too.

If you are still thinking about goals and intentions for 2017 I’d suggest that if you have not already got one, you put making a will and LPA pretty high up on that list. If not for you, for those you’d leave behind.

On a slightly different note, but still life changing, a friend of mine, Rob Brown, suffered a serious illness in 2016. I have worked with Rob on and off for a number of years now and he is just brilliant at referral marketing and networking.

Just before Christmas he shared this with his friends on Facebook…

It’s Christmas and I’m having a bit of a fire sale to get some money in. If you don’t already know, then this has been a tough year with a lot of migraines and eventual brain surgery. All good now and recovering well. But this is to make up for all the marketing and delivery I didn’t do in 2016! I’ve put together a Dropbox folder of thousands of pounds worth of my best stuff over the last few years on networking, referrals and reputation. It’s just $99.

It is such a bargain and I know through my work with Rob that you’ll benefit by taking action with what he shares.

Simon now spends his time helping business owners use the Bravest Business Model to help them focus on the most important functions of their business. After they have been working with him for a while they start to earn the money they deserve, they get more time with their family doing the things they want to do and they make their mum proud!
